72 Terrorism Convicts Pledge Allegiance to Indonesia

Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. As many as 72 terrorism convicts at Gunung Sindur Correctional Facility in Bogor, West Java, pledged loyalty to the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia on Wednesday (24/4/2024). 

Reynhard Silitonga, the Acting Director General of Corrections at the Ministry of Law and Human Rights, said that these convicts came from nine correctional facilities. 

He hoped they would become exemplary citizens, fostering positive relationships within society and with state institutions following the rehabilitation efforts within correctional institutions.

Reynhard expressed gratitude to various stakeholders, including the National Counterterrorism Agency (BNPT),  the Indonesian National Police (INP) special counterterrorism detachment (Densus 88), the Ministry of Religious Affairs, the National Intelligence Agency (BIN), the Pancasila Ideology Education Agency (BPIP), local administrations, community organizations, and other agencies, for their support in rehabilitating terrorism convicts. 

Among the 72 convicts, 48 were from Gunung Sindur Correctional Facility, 10 from the Drug Class II A Correctional Facility in Gunung Sindur, five from Sentul Class II B Special Correctional Facility, and others from various facilities. 

As of Tuesday, there are a total of 347 terrorism convicts across 61 correctional facilities in Indonesia.
