Inp.polri.go.id - Ambon. Eighty-three former members of Jamaah Islamiyah (JI) in Maluku have pledged their loyalty to the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia .
Senior Superintendent I Wayan Sukarena, the Head of the Maluku Densus 88 Anti-Terror Task Force, said on Saturday (12/10/2024), that the participants included those from from Ambon, Central Maluku, West Seram, and Buru.
He urged the former JI members to promote Indonesia’s principles within their families, emphasizing that all citizens share equal responsibilities under the law.
"Let us love our nation as we care for our own home. Indonesia's diversity is our strength, and Pancasila is the foundation that unites us all," Sukarena said, as quoted by antaranews.com..
Abdullah Latuapo, the Chairman of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) for Maluku, emphasized the importance of eliminating beliefs that contradict NKRI, noting that this transformation was voluntary.
“We hope the government supports their reintegration into society as responsible citizens,” Abdullah added.
