Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Inspector General Krishna Murti, the Indonesian National Police (INP) Head of the International Relations Division, confirmed on Thursday (5/9/2024) that talks are ongoing with the Philippine government regarding a potential exchange of former Mayor Alice Guo for Indonesia’s top narcotics fugitive, Gregor Haas.
"This is part of the discussion, and we hope it will conclude in due time," he said after handing over Alice Guo to the Philippine delegation, represented by Interior Secretary Benjamin Abalos Jr., in Jakarta.
Alice, a fugitive, was arrested in Tangerang on Tuesday. Her capture has opened negotiations for the return of Gregor Haas, who was arrested in Cebu, Philippines, in May 2024.
Chief Krishna hinted at positive progress, noting the high-level delegation from the Philippines.
"Why do you think they came at such a high level? It shows the talks are progressing well," he remarked, as quoted by antaranews.com.
Haas, an Australian national, remains detained in the Philippines.
