Chief Sigit, who accompanied President Joko Widodo along with the Indonesian Military (TNI)s Commander General Agus Subiyanto in welcoming the Pope, emphasized the significance of the event.

“Pope Francis’ visit has brought a message of solidarity and religious harmony that resonates deeply with the Indonesian people,” he said .

The mass at GBK was the final event in Pope Francis' historic trip to Indonesia. Many attendees, especially Catholics, had the rare chance to meet and shake hands with the Pope, who is both the leader of the Catholic Church and the Head of State of the Vatican.

Chief Sigit noted that the Pope’s visit symbolized religious tolerance, a cornerstone for fostering national unity.
