Inp.polri.go.id - Denpasar. Bali Governor Wayan Koster has rejected the national two-child family planning, better-known locally as KB, policy, instead advocating for a four-child plan among Balinese locals to sustain the island’s unique cultural heritage.

Speaking at a congress on Sunday (13/4/2025), he emphasized that Bali’s main strength lies in its culture. With the declining number of native Balinese, particularly Hindu communities who uphold traditions, key rituals and ceremonies may be lost.

While open to migrants seeking livelihoods in Bali, Koster expressed concern over the dwindling native population.

“The issue is not about how many people come to Bali, but who will safeguard its culture,” he stressed, as quoted by antaranews.com.

To address this, the provincial administration is drafting incentives for families with third and fourth children—those traditionally named Nyoman and Ketut. A special task force has also been formed to support population growth as part of Bali’s development agenda.
