Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Bali Regional Police launched a massive coastal cleaning operation across the island on Wednesday (4/2/2026) in response to direct criticism from President Prabowo Subianto.
Hundreds of personnel, including the Mobile Brigade (Brimob) and local police ranks, targeted key tourism hubs such as Padanggalak, Pererenan, and Gilimanuk areas. This mobilization followed the President’s remarks at a national coordination meeting in Sentul, where he expressed disappointment over the accumulation of plastic and debris hindering Bali’s appeal as a world-class destination.
"In order to follow up on orders from the President regarding cleanliness at all tourist objects in Bali, Polda and its ranks initiated beach cleaning activities starting yesterday and today," stated Bali Police Head of Public Relations Senior Superintendent Ariasandy, as cited by antaranews.com.
Governor Wayan Koster clarified that the surge in waste at Kuta and Kedonganan is a seasonal phenomenon driven by sea currents between December and February. To ensure long-term sustainability, the provincial administration is establishing a permanent Beach Cleaning Task Force, integrating efforts between the police, military, and local environmental agencies to maintain Bali's quality tourism standards.
