Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. A Banda Aceh District Court on Wednesday (14/1/2026) sentenced a 56-year-old woman to seven years in prison for trafficking a 16-year-old girl to Malaysia, marking a firm stance against cross-border child exploitation.
The presiding judge Zulkarnain said the defendant, Rohamah from Lhokseumawe, was proven to have facilitated the illegal transfer of a minor abroad, leading to sexual exploitation.
“The court finds the defendant legally and convincingly guilty of violating Articles 6 and 10 of Law No. 21/2007 on the eradication of human trafficking,” he said during the verdict hearing, as reported by antaranews.com
The court also imposed a Rp 200 million fine, substitutable by two months’ imprisonment, and ordered restitution of Rp 117.38 million to the victim. Failure to pay restitution will result in asset seizure or an additional six months in jail.
The victim was taken to Malaysia via Riau in October 2024 and later exploited as an entertainer. Both prosecutors and the defendant were given seven days to decide on an appeal.
