Inp.polri.go.id - Serang. Banten Regional Police have arrested a 54-year-old man for allegedly running a Rp 1 billion fraud scheme by promising guaranteed admission to the Indonesian Police Academy (Akpol) during the 2025 recruitment process.
The suspect, identified as NR, was detained by the Banten Police Criminal Investigation Directorate following a report from a victim who failed to secure admission despite paying the full amount.
“The suspect demanded Rp 1 billion in exchange for ensuring the victim’s child passed the Akpol selection, but the money was used for personal purposes,” said Banten Police Criminal Investigation Director Senior Superintendent Dian Setyawan, as cited by antaranews.com on Thursday (15/1/2026)
The case emerged in March 2025 after the victim was introduced to the suspect, who claimed to have insider connections. Police confirmed losses of Rp970 million transferred to the suspect. NR was arrested on 14 January 2026 while attempting to flee toward Anyer and was intercepted at Rangkasbitung Toll Gate.
