Inp.polri.go.id - Cilegon.  Banten Regional Police Chief Inspector General Abdul Karim, banned on Sunday (7/4/2024) ticketless travel to Merak Port to alleviate congestion. At present, all ferry tickets from Merak to Bakauheni were sold out until 9 April 2024, according to antaranews.com. Chief Abdul urged travelers not to depart without tickets, citing a significant increase in travelers this year. To manage congestion, the police implemented measures included a delay system and restricting certain vehicles to Bandar Bakau Jaya Port. Chief Abdul advised scheduling travel and purchasing tickets after 8 April 2024 to avoid complications. For those already near Merak Port, alternative ticket sales are available at Ciwandan Port, exclusively for private vehicles. Initially, around 200 tickets will be sold, ensuring compliance with ferry capacity. Evaluation of the system's effectiveness is ongoing. (mg/inp/pr/nm)
