Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta – The National Narcotics Agency (BNN) is adjusting its approach to target drug syndicates that have adopted new methods of distribution, which now splitting their supplies into smaller quantities to evade detection while maintaining widespread distribution.

"We are adapting by focusing on dismantling these fragmented yet expansive networks through large-scale arrests," Commissioner General Marthinus Hukom, the Head of BNN,  said during a press conference on Friday (20/9/2024). 

He explained that drug syndicates aim to minimize losses by avoiding large-scale shipments, which could severely impact their profits if intercepted by law enforcement, according to antaranews.com.

BNN’s priority is now to identify and cripple these networks by tracking their operations and cutting off their financial sources.

 "Our success isn't measured by the amount we seize, but by how effectively we cripple their operations," Chief Marthinus emphasized.

The shift comes after BNN seized 15 kg of methamphetamine and over 10,000 ecstasy pills smuggled from Malaysia through Aceh, resulting in the arrest of three suspects involved in the operation
