Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The National Narcotics Agency (BNN) has uncovered a large-scale cannabis trafficking operation involving 624.5 kilograms of marijuana originating from Aceh, intended for distribution in West Sumatra.

BNN Chief Commissioner General Marthinus Hukom said on Friday (18/10/2024)) that the operation involved multiple agencies. 

"This discovery is the result of a joint operation," he confirmed.

The cannabis, ready for distribution, was transported from Aceh Gayo Lues to Ranah Minang by seven suspects, identified as K, R, P, Z, E, H, and RK. 

The case was uncovered following a tip-off from the public, and the arrests took place last Friday around 6 am local time.

Authorities detained the suspects, who were traveling in two vehicles. A search of the vehicles revealed 12 large sacks containing 25 pre-packaged bundles of marijuana.

The suspects face charges under the Law No. 35 of 2009 on Narcotics, including Articles 115, 114, 111, and 132.
