Inp.polri.go.id - Surakarta. Central Java's National Paralympic Committee (NPC) has won the overall championship title at the 17th National Paralympic Week (Peparnas) held in Surakarta in 2024.

The host province amassed a total of 406 medals, including 161 gold, 121 silver, and 124 bronze.

“This championship title is remarkable as the NPCI leadership has been committed to achieving this goal since 2017,” Osrita Muslim, who chairs NPCI in Central Java, said during the closing ceremony..

She acknowledged that confidence had waned when Peparnas was initially set to take place in Aceh-North Sumatra.

“However, when the host status was moved to Solo, our hopes soared. Our athletes were excited to compete on home turf,” Osrita said, as quoted by antaranews.com.

The achievement can be attributed to the motivation of being the host, as NPCI Central Java redirected funds originally allocated for transportation to increase the athlete quota from 250 to 373. This strategic decision significantly enhanced their competitive edge.
