inp.polri.go.id –  The Central Java Regional Police conducted a trial of ticketing using unmanned aircraft or drones after previously using CCTV and mobile phones in their Electronic Traffic Law Enforcement (ETLE) system. Director of Traffic of Central Java Police, Commissioner Agus Suryo Nugroho said that the trial, which started on Monday (10/10), was part of the research to be applied nationally. "This is the first research and trial in Central Java," explained Commissioner Agus Suryo. Commissioner Agus Suryo did not mention what the specifications of the drones used were. However, this drone has been equipped with a strobe light that can be turned on to resemble a police patrol vehicle. The Director of Central Java Traffic Police said that the Indonesian Drone Pilots Association had previously trained police officers to fly drones for ETLE. The Director of Central Java Traffic Police explained that the use of drones is one of the efforts to improve the ETLE system, which so far only uses CCTV and mobile phones that are held by police officers in the field. "This is an effort to improve digital law enforcement," said the Director of Traffic Unit of Central Java Police. He added, that in general the way the ETLE drone works will be no different. The camera will watch over the traffic and provide screenshots if someone commits a traffic violation. From there the police will have evidence of violations when issuing a ticket to those who violates the law in traffic.
