Chief of Papua Regional Police: Eid is a Moment to Strengthen Peace in Papua

Inp.polri.go.id - Jayapura. The implementation of Eid prayers in Papua runs safely and smoothly. Chief of Papua Regional Police, Police Inspector General Mathius D. Fakhiri, said 2021 Eid is a momentum to maintain peace in Papua's land. Chief of Papua Regional Police said that Papuan Muslims in 28 regencies and one city in Papua attend Eid prayers safely in their respective mosques. There are no disturbances in several regencies that are prone to attacks by criminal groups. A total of 745 police personnel were deployed to accommodate 133 mosques throughout Papua. "Together with the Evidence Handling Task Force, the Eid prayers are carried out following health protocols," he explained. The two-star General at Papua Regional Police also hopes that Eid will be interpreted as an effort for all Papuan people to work hand in hand on religious harmony and create a conducive situation in Papua.
