The Densus 88 Anti-Terror of Indonesian National Police (INP) arrested an individual identified as "DE" in the Bekasi region on (14/8/23) due to the suspect's association with a social media group linked to extremist activities. Brigadier General Ahmad Ramadhan, the Head of Public Affairs of INP Public Relations Division, explained that DE actively endorsed ISIS ideology and disseminated their beliefs through various social media platforms, with a significant focus on Facebook. This dissemination included motivational content promoting jihad through digital mediums. "The suspect utilized Facebook to share digital posters, written in both Arabic and Indonesian, which detailed updates regarding Bai'at to the ISIS leader, Abu Al Husain Al Husaini Al Quraysi," he said on Monday (14/8/23). The suspect is suspected to have been in possession of improvised weaponry and involved in fundraising activities. Additionally, the suspect fulfilled administrative roles, overseeing the creation of multiple channels on the Telegram application. These channels housed archives of documentary films and provided real-time updates concerning events linked to global terrorism. He added, "The suspect undertook the task of translating these materials into Indonesian." (ay/hn/nm)
