Deputy Minister of Law and Human Rights Unaware of Suspect Status: Spokesperson

Public Relations Coordinator at the Ministry of Law and Human Rights Tubagus Erif Faturahman clarified that Deputy Minister of Law and Human Rights, Edward Omar Sharif Hiariej, also known as Eddy, is unaware of being implicated as a suspect in a bribery case by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), on Friday (10/11/23). Tubagus emphasized that Eddy has not undergone interrogation during the ongoing investigation, nor has he received an Investigation Warrant or a Notice of the Commencement of Investigation from the KPK investigators, antaranews.com reported. Addressing the legal status of the Deputy Minister, he stressed that the Ministry adheres to the principle of presumption of innocence until there is clarity from court decisions. "We uphold the principle of presumption of innocence until there is a final court decision," he affirmed. Additionally, he stated that the Ministry would coordinate legal assistance for Eddy, stating, "We will organize legal assistance through the Ministry of Law and Human Rights." (ar/inp/pr/nm)
