Inp.polri.go.id - Denpasar. Bali Regional Police have named the Director of PT Mitra Bali Sukses, the franchise holder of Mie Gacoan in Bali, as a suspect in an alleged music copyright violation.
Mie Gacoan is a popular Indonesian noodle restaurant chain known for its affordable and flavorful dishes, operating numerous outlets across the country, including Bali.
"The case stems from a public complaint filed on 26 August 2024. After investigation, we stepped it up to a formal criminal probe based on a police report on 20 January 2025," said Senior Superintendent Ariasandy, the Bali Police Head of Public Relations, as quoted by antaranews.com.
The case was filed by the Indonesian Music Licensing Center (SELMI), a collective management organization, which claims that royalties amounting to billions of rupiah were unpaid. The estimated loss is based on the official Ministry of Law and Human Rights Decree No. HKI.2.OT.03.01-02/2016 on royalty tariffs for restaurants.
As of now, only the director, identified by initials I Gusti Ayu Sasih Ira, has been named a suspect. The company has yet to release a public statement.
