Inp.polri.go.id - Keerom.  A 6.3-magnitude earthquake shook Keerom Regency in Papua Province on Thursday, 12 September 2024, at 01:46 WIT (23:46 WIB on Wednesday).

According to the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), the quake was centered at 3.55°S, 146.27°E, about 612 kilometers southeast of Keerom, with a depth of 25 kilometers, antaranews.com reported.

The BMKG emphasized that the data is provisional and may change as more information is processed. They urged the public to remain calm and avoid spreading or believing unverified information. 

No specific details on the cause or impact of the earthquake have been released yet.
