The citizens of East Java are urged to support police goal in realizing zero-loud exhaust in the province as the institution aims to uphold order and suppress traffic accidents, says East Java Regional Police Traffic Directorate key official, Superintendent Raden Erik Bangun Prakasa in Surabaya. “Most people who use the loud exhaust are often drive recklessly and in high-speed to better ‘express’ their exhaust. This has come to our attention as we implore all elements of the society to realize a better cultured driving,” said Erik on Thursday (1/25/2024). In effort to realize the goal, East Java Regional Police Traffic Directorate designed a program named Mahameru Lantas which will encourage the general public to give social punishment to the loud exhaust user. “We also invites all motorbike gangs to join our effort in succeeding the program,” continue Erik. Erik also states that the measure was taken as repressive action following unsuccessful ticketing which are considered weak to act against the loud exhaust users. Mahameru Lantas program was also designed based on how high the motorbike traffic accidents number was. “This program will be our focus as the highest cause of death in Indonesia is traffic accidents.
