Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Football player Mauro Nils Zijlstra (20) and three female players Isabel Corian Kopp (23), Pauline Jeannette van de Pol (22), and Isabelle Nottet (22) officially became Indonesian citizens after taking the oath of allegiance at the Indonesian Embassy in The Hague, Netherlands, on Friday (29/8/2025).
This moment marks the nation’s strong commitment to “strengthening football through diaspora talents who bring international quality and fighting spirit,” the Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) said in a statement, as quoted by antaranews.com
Zijlstra, a striker for FC Volendam, is expected to join Indonesia’s senior national team during September’s FIFA Match Day against Taiwan and Lebanon. PSSI Chairman Erick Thohir confirmed he will be given a trial, filling a gap left by injured striker Ole Romeny.
Meanwhile, the three female players will be part of Indonesia’s long-term women’s football project, while FC Utrecht winger Miliano Jonathans remains under process for naturalization.
