inp.polri.go.id - North Sumatra. The North Sumatra Regional Police Drugs Criminal Investigation Directorate Unit revealed that their province is in the red zone for emergency drug trafficking.

The Director of Drugs Criminal Investigation of the North Sumatra Regional Police, Senior Superintendent Jean Calvijn Simanjuntak, said that there are four regencies that are in the spotlight. The four are Langkat Regency, Tanjung Balai, Pematangsiantar and Binjai City.

On this occasion, he stated that the four regencies are a priority for preventing and eradicating drug trafficking.

"Langkat, Tanjung Balai, Siantar and Binjai. These are locations that are of concern regarding the drug abuse," said Jean Calvijn on Saturday (9/27/2025).

For the highest sub-district ranking, the North Sumatra Regional Police are highlighting 5 sub-districts starting from Deli Serdang Regency to Medan City.

Several sub-districts considered to have the highest drug trafficking according to him are Tanjung Morawa, Percut Sei Tuan, Sunggal Deli Serdang, Medan Labuhan, and Medan Deli.

He further stated that drug prevention and eradication is not only the police's responsibility, but a shared responsibility. Therefore, he requested that local governments, from the Regency, City, to the Province, participate.
