inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Minister of Manpower Ida Fauziyah says that the government is optimistic that they can reduce the number of unemployment to its target of 4.5 - 5 percent in 2025.
Ida has seen the job opportunities rate going up, although with the facts that some types of jobs have gone due to technological advancement. However, she notes that the new development also created new types of jobs.
“We are optimistic because we saw the number of unemployment is decreasing,” says Minister Ida.
According to the Indonesian Open Unemployment Rate (TPT), the number has been decreasing for the past few years. The numbers of TPT in the Statistic Center Agency showed that TPT was decreasing from August 2020, which is 7.07 percent to 6.26 in February 2021.
The national TPT continues to decrease from 5.83 in February 2022 to 5.45 percent in 2023, and continues its downward trend in 2024 to 4.82 percent.
“Can you imagine from 7 percent in 2020, now the unemployment rate is 4.8 percent, and it is amazing. This downward trend is thanks to our demographic bonus where most of our people are in their productive age. There are also many job opportunities domestically and internationally, while we are also creating job opportunities,” says Minister Ida.
