inp.polri.go.id – Jakarta. Greater Jakarta Metropolitan Regional Police advises the people to increase awareness and strict Health Protocols in approaching New Year 2022 to anticipate the Omicron variant of Covid-19. "There have been people infected by Omicron by local transmission with no records of intercity travel. This must be everyone's attention", Chief of PR Agency of Greater Jakarta Metropolitan Regional Police, Police Grand Commissioner E Zulpan, said in Jakarta on Tuesday (28/12/2021). Chief of PR Agency explained that one of the anticipation measures is to enforce PeduliLindungi application in all public spaces. "PeduliLindungi application is one of the ways to prevent Omicron variant", he explained further. Entrepreneurs and public space managers such as malls, cafes, restaurants, and other kinds of business that open the possibilities of crowd gathering are also asked to be disciplined in observing Health Protocols enforcement in their business place. "We are in commitment with the regional government that every commercial space, either leisure, shopping, tourism, mall, et cetera, must enforce Health Protocols through visitor and operational hours limitation and, the most important, PeduliLindungi application", he said. As information, all restaurants or leisure places in Jakarta during New Year's Eve are only permitted to open until 20.00 to avoid crowds and Covid-19 transmission. Around 8,000 personnel of Greater Jakarta Metropolitan Regional Police and joint forces from Armed Forces and Jakarta Provincial Government would be patrolling to monitor all commercial places. They will check Health Protocols requirements such as hand sanitiser availabilities, hand washing sinks, and PeduliLindungi application in every commercial space. They are also to ensure that the commercial places close in accordance with the determined operational hours. "If Police found the violating commercial place, their business permits would be revoked by the government", Chief of PR Agency affirmed. Besides monitoring the commercial spaces, the personnel will also patrol every residential area to disperse fireworks and firecrackers parties to avoid crowds during New Year's Eve. (my/bq/hy)
