Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. House Speaker Puan Maharani has urged strict penalties for those involved in the MinyaKita cooking oil fraud and a full investigation into its supply chain.
She attributed the fraud—ranging from underfilled packaging to counterfeit products—to weak regulatory oversight. “This case exposes gaps in supervision that allowed fraud to go undetected,” she said on Friday (14/3/2025).
House Speaker Puan warned in a statement that failing to impose harsh penalties would encourage repeat offenses and erode public trust in government food subsidy programs. She stressed that accountability must extend beyond low-level perpetrators to those higher up the chain.
To prevent future fraud, Puan urged House Commission IX and the Indonesian Food and Drugs Agency (BPOM) to enhance monitoring and conduct regular inspections. She also called on the Ministry of Trade and Food Task Force to implement stricter oversight for subsidized goods.
The Indonesian National Police (INP)’s Food Task Force have announced that 14 company directors have been named suspects in MinyaKita frauds.
