Illegal Import Task Force Seized Goods Worth of 20 Billion IDR

Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Trade Minister Zulkifli Hasan says Illegal Import Task Force has found illegal items worth of 20 billion IDR.

"The seized items have the total value of Rp20,225,000,000," says Minister Zulkifli on Monday (8/19/2024).

The items seized by the task force includes grinding machines, drilling machines, cell phones and tablets, electric pressure cookers, car washing machines, contact and switch boxes, SNI mandatory commodities, certain products (finished textile goods), electronic products, downstream plastics, forestry products and class A, B, and C alcoholic drinks.

According to Zulkifli, most of the seized items did not have Surveyor Report (LS), Goods Registration Number (NPB), SNI and does not have after sales service.

Moreover, the illegal import task force have conduct monitoring three times after it was first formed. On its first monitoring, the task force found smuggled products from abroad that are estimated to be worth of 40 billion IDR, consisting of smartphones and tablet computers worth IDR 2.7 billion, apparel worth IDR 20 billion, electronic goods IDR 12.3 billion and children's toys IDR 5 billion.

Then, on its second monitoring, the task force found smuggled products with the total value of 46 billion IDR consisting electronic goods, textiles, footwear and others.

"I have heard many ships have turned back as we intensified our monitoring. This definitely would help reduce the flow of illegal product and I hope it would restore the Indonesian economy," says Minister Zulkifli.
