Inp.polri.go.id - Tangerang. The Immigration officials at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Tangerang, Banten, have been searching for a suspect involved in smuggling Malaysian passports into Indonesia.

The ringleader, identified as R, is now on Indonesia’s wanted list, according to antaranews.com.

Subki Miludi, the Head of Soekarno-Hatta Immigration Office, confirmed that R, who is of Indian descent, controls two foreign nationals, identified as SK (47) and JM (34), who have already been detained at the airport.

The case has been communicated to the Malaysian Embassy in Jakarta, and it has been confirmed that the smuggled passports had been previously reported as lost. Authorities suspect the passports were intended for illegal activities, including human trafficking.

The two detained suspects reportedly received 1,000 ringgit (approximately Rp 3,000,000) per passport delivery. They are facing charges under Article 130 of Immigration Law No. 6 of 2011, which carries a maximum penalty of two years in prison and/or a fine of up to Rp 200 million.
