Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Indonesia and Honduras signed a memorandum of understanding granting visa-free entry for holders of diplomatic and service passports on the sidelines of the 80th UN General Assembly in New York on Friday (26/9/2025).
“This agreement reflects the shared commitment to strengthen bilateral ties. Indonesia can serve as a gateway to ASEAN markets, while Honduras acts as a bridge to North and Central America,” said Minister of Foreign Affairs Sugiono after signing the deal with Honduran Foreign Minister Javier Efraín Bú Soto, as quoted by antaranews.com.
Beyond mobility, both nations identified food security as a priority and reaffirmed cooperation within the Council of Palm Oil Producing Countries (CPOPC), which Honduras joined in May 2023. The bloc, now expanded to five full members, seeks to counter negative campaigns against palm oil while promoting sustainability and smallholder inclusion.
Bilateral trade reached US$82.1 million in 2024, with Indonesia recording a surplus. Main exports include Indonesian palm oil and steel, while Honduras ships coffee, rubber, apparel, and cigars.
