Inp.polri.go.id - Indramayu. The local administration of Indramayu, West Java, is working to rescue Robiin, a former member of the Indramayu Regional Legislative Council (DPRD) from the 2014-2019 term, who is suspected to be a victim of human trafficking and is currently stranded at the Myanmar border.
Asep Kurniawan, the Head of the Employment Placement Division at the Indramayu Manpower Office, confirmed on Thursday (10/10/2024) that Robiin has been reported as being held captive and tortured.
“We have already met with his wife, Yuli, and are prepared to assist in any way necessary,” he said, as reported by antaranews.com.
Robiin was recruited via Facebook in 2023 under false promises of a job in Thailand, only to be smuggled to Myanmar and forced into online scamming operations.
“My husband was promised a salary, but he’s been working 18 to 20 hours a day under duress,” Yuli revealed.
