Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian National Police (INP)’s Narcotics Crime Directorate intercepted 192 kilograms of crystal meth trafficked by an Indonesia-Malaysia syndicate in Aceh.
A suspect, identified as M (36), was arrested and is currently detained at the INP’s Criminal Investigation Agency .
INP Director of Narcotics Crime Brigadier General Eko Hadi Santoso said on Monday (14/4/2025) that the drugs were seized on 8 April 2025 after intelligence indicated a shipment was being transported via boat through the Malacca Strait and delivered inland. Police tracked the land receiver, leading to a high-speed chase in Pandrah, Bireuen.
“The suspect attempted to escape and collided with a truck, but no casualties occurred,” Chief Eko said, as quoted by antaranews.com.
Authorities later discovered 10 sacks of meth disguised as Chinese tea.
Suspect M allegedly acted under orders from an person identified as R, now a fugitive along with another suspect identified as F.
Suspect M is charged under Law No. 35/2009 on Narcotics, carrying a minimum sentence of five years and a fine of at least Rp1 billion.
