Jakarta.  The Indonesian National Police (INP) has been investigating allegations of misappropriated funds for the National Sports Week (PON) XXI in Aceh and North Sumatra.

“We are reviewing the case, and if any legal violations are found, authorities like the police and prosecutors will discuss necessary actions,” INP Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo said on Wednesday (25/9/2024)..

The investigation followed concerns raised by the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the public regarding insufficient facilities, despite the event already being underway. The INP has formed a task force, including members from the INP Criminal Investigation Agency and the Aceh and North Sumatra Regional Police, to monitor for potential corruption.

The inquiry is part of the INP’s commitment to enforce President Joko Widodo's directive to oversee PON XX
