Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian National Police’s Criminal Investigation Department is investigating a suspected child abuse case involving a 7-year-old boy found alone at Kebayoran Lama Market, South Jakarta, on Wednesday.

Brigadier General Nurul Azizah, the Director of Crimes Against Women and Children aand Human Trafficking, said  on Friday (13/6/2025) that the child, identified as MK, is receiving intensive care and remains in stable condition.

“We are coordinating with medical teams and stakeholders to ensure the child’s recovery and protection,” she said, as quoted by antaranews.com.

Initial findings suggest the abuse occurred in Surabaya, East Java. The Criminal Investigation Agency has taken over the case due to jurisdiction.

The child was discovered sleeping on a cardboard box during a public order patrol. He claimed to have been abused by his parents but has difficulty speaking and cannot yet give a full statement.

Police confirmed the boy and his father arrived in Jakarta from Surabaya via Pasar Turi Station on 10 June 2025
