Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian National Police (INP) will conduct joint operations to prevent drug circulation ahead of the 2025 Christmas and 2026 New Year (Nataru) holiday period, a time when narcotics trafficking typically spikes.
“Joint operations will be carried out at entertainment venues, including nightclubs, discos, and bars across Indonesia, especially in major cities,” said Brigadier General Eko Hadi Santoso, the Director of the Narcotics Crime Division at the INP’s Criminal Investigation Agency, on Monday (24/11/2025), as reported by antaranews.com.
He said that end-of-year festivities tend to increase demand for recreational drugs such as ecstasy and methamphetamine due to crowded celebrations and long holidays that provide users more time to consume narcotics.
Trafficking networks also take advantage of year-end momentum to boost their profits. “Dealers try to maximize gains before and during the celebrations,” he said.
In addition to raids at hotspots, the INP will tighten border controls to block imported drugs. Surveillance will be intensified at ports, airports, border areas, and illegal smuggling routes to intercept narcotics entering from international networks, including Malaysia and the Golden Triangle.
The INP will also target known drug hubs through raids intended to transform them into drug-free zones.
