Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian National Police (INP) has praised Senior Brigadier Abdul Syahid, a Bhabinkamtibmas officer in West Sumbawa, East Nusa Tenggara, for becoming a human bridge to help a mother and child cross a landslide-damaged road.
Bhabinkamtibnas refers to community police officers who are assigned with maintaining security and public order at the village or neighborhood level.
INP’s Inspector of General Supervision Inspector General Dedi Prasetyo described his actions as a true example of police dedication to the community.
"His heroic deed is an inspiration for all police officers to always prioritize serving and protecting the public," Chief Dedi said on Thursday (16/1/2025), as quoted by antaranews.com.
The act, captured in a viral video, shows officer Syahid lying across a broken road in Sekongkang, West Sumbawa, on 10 January 2025, allowing the mother and child to step on his back to safely cross.
“This reflects the core mission of INPi as protectors and guardians of society,” Chief Dedi emphasized, reiterating the INP’s ongoing commitment to earning public trust through acts of genuine service.
