The Directorate of Criminal Action for the Protection of Women and Children and the Eradication of Human Trafficking (PPA-PPO) of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Indonesian National Police (INP) is currently looking for data on the report of alleged exploitation of former circus performers at the Oriental Circus Indonesia (OCI) filed in 1997.

"Regarding the report in 199, we are currently still looking for the data considering that the incident happened 28 years ago," said Director of PPA-PPO of INP Brigadier General Nurul Azizah when confirmed by reporters in Jakarta on Thursday (4/24/2025).

In addition to looking for data, Nurul also ensured that her party continues to coordinate with the Ministry of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection (PPPA) regarding the handling of this case.

"We always follow the activities of several meetings with the Ministry of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection," she said.

Previously, Vice Chairman of Commission XIII of the Indonesian House of Representatives Sugiat Santoso asked the police to reopen the alleged exploitation case.

Based on records from the National Commission (Komnas HAM), the investigation into the alleged exploitation case of the OCI circus was stopped in 1999 by the police.
