inp.polri.go.id - Surabaya. The East Java Regional Police General Criminal Investigation Directorate has named four suspects in the kidnapping case of students from the Metal Islamic Boarding School in Rejoso, Pasuruan City.
The four suspects in the kidnapping of students are S (24), a resident of Gempol, Pasuruan, who lives in Surabaya; P (60), a resident of Mojo Kidul, Surabaya; MHR (32), a resident of Kaliasin, Surabaya; and AE (34), a resident of Rejoso, Pasuruan.
"The arrest of the suspects was carried out after a report from the Islamic boarding school was received by the Pasuruan Sub-regional City Police. The kidnappers were secured while they were at the Kebomas Toll exit," said Head of Sub-Directorate III of Criminal Investigation Directorate, Senior Superintendent Arbaridi Jumhur in Surabaya, Thursday (4/24/2025).
Jumhur said the kidnapping of MS (17) was said to be the wrong target. The four perpetrators allegedly received orders from someone with the initials P (on the run) to kidnap a man with the initials R alias D, who is suspected of being involved in a drug abuse case.
"However, the one who was kidnapped was the victim MS who is a student and has no connection whatsoever to the case," he said.
In their action, the perpetrators forcibly took the victim using a black Toyota Avanza car from the Metal Islamic Boarding School area, Rejoso. The incident was recorded by a surveillance camera (CCTV) and went viral on social media on Monday (4/21/2025) night.
"The victim was taken to a residential area in Kebomas, Gresik. During the trip, the victim was threatened with an airsoft gun and was harmed by the perpetrators," said Jumhur.
The four suspects had different roles in the kidnapping. Suspect S acted as the kidnapper who smothered the victim with a sarong, then suspect AE served as the driver and the one who threatened the victim. On the other hand, suspect P also participated in the kidnapping, as MHR was involved in harming the victim.
The police are still hunting for the main perpetrator with the initials P who is on the run. The motive for the kidnapping is known to be related to the alleged abuse of methamphetamine, which previously did not reach the main perpetrator.
