Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Jambi emerged as the overall champion of the 2025 National Weightlifting Championship held from 14 to 17 Mayat the UNY Sports Hall in Yogyakarta, winning seven gold medals—four from the women’s category and three from men’s. 

West Java ranked second with six golds, three silvers, and three bronzes, followed by Central Java with six golds and three silvers. Papuan lifter Ricko Saputra was named best male lifter after securing three golds in the 60 kg class.

Secretary General of  the Indonesian Weightlifting Association (PABSI) Djoko Pramono said on Saturday (17/5/2025), “The current strength map is quite even. Some regions improve, others decline.”

This championship was the first in Indonesia to adopt the new weight categories mandated by the International Weightlifting Federation, effective officially from 1 June 2025, 2025, to accelerate athlete adaptation, as reported by antaranews.com.
