Inp.polri.go.id - Jayapura.   The Jayapura Sub-regional Police investigated the arson of several buildings in the Bucen III Waena area, Jayapura, located in the dormitory area of Military Command 172/PWY in Papua. The fire occurred on Thursday  around 5.50 pm, engulfing seven shops, official residences, and a health service facility, said Chief of Public Relations of the Papua Regional Police, Senior Superintendent Ignatius Benny Ady Prabowo on Friday (29/12/2023), antaranews.com reported. "Investigators have conducted data collection regarding the affected victims and are conducting an investigation to uncover the motives and masterminds behind this incident," he said The fire was allegedly lit by several attendees of the funeral procession of the suspended Governor of Papua, Lukas Enembe, from Sentani to his residence in Koya Tengah in Jayapura. The fire was extinguished at 8.30 pm. There were no casualties in the incident, which caused an estimated Rp 2 billion in losses. (mg/inp/pr/nm)
