inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Ministry of Communication and Digital stated that it continues to monitor the development of artificial intelligence (AI) technology in Indonesia by paying attention to ethical aspects and mature regulations.
"In the Circular on the ethical use of AI issued by the Ministry of Communication and Digital, several things have been outlined there, for example how the security aspect is," said Deputy Minister of Communication and Digital Nezar Patria on Thursday (11/28/24).
Nezar said that his party had released Circular Letter Number 9 of 2023 concerning the Ethics of Artificial Intelligence.
In the circular, the government emphasized several important points related to the safe, transparent, and responsible use of AI. The circular underlined several basic things, including the importance of the security aspect in the development and use of AI.
He said that AI developers continue to be encouraged to maintain transparency and ensure that the products they develop are not easily changed or manipulated, considering the potential for bias and hallucinations that can arise from the AI system.
In addition, copyright is also an important concern in this regulation, where AI utilizes data from various sources so that transparency regarding the origin of the data is very crucial to avoid problems of copyright infringement and data misuse.
Furthermore, Nezar adds that his party is also continuing to monitor the development of AI in Indonesia so that it is expected to be in line with the regulations prepared by the government.
According to him, further regulations on AI are being considered based on the urgency faced, including regulatory options in the form of Ministerial Regulations (Permen), Presidential Regulations (Perpres), and Laws (UU).
In the regulatory process, the Ministry of Communication and Digital is also ensuring collaboration with other ministries and institutions, to ensure that these regulations can run effectively and in accordance with rapid technological developments.
He added that stricter supervision and clear policies are expected to provide security and justice for the community as users and developers of AI in Indonesia.
