Inp.polri.go.id- Padang. West Sumatera Regional Police are investigating allegations of stockpiling of medical oxygen. This was revealed after Andalas University Hospital mentioned their oxygen stock was only sufficient until Thursday (07/22).
President Director of Andalas University Hospital, Yevri Zulfiqar said his party asked the authority to intervene in the availability of oxygen at Covid-19 referral hospital.
He admitted vendors who usually supply oxygen to Covid-19 referral hospitals are overwhelmed because they have no liquid oxygen in stock.
"Because our supplies at Andalas University Hospital and several other Covid referral hospitals are only until this afternoon or evening. We hope the incident of unmanaged patient due to lack of oxygen supply, such as the incident in Java, do not not occur in West Sumatra," President Director of Andalas University Hospital mentioned in statement he wrote that was received by Merdeka.com, Padang, Thursday (07/22).
Meanwhile, Head of Public Affairs of West Sumatera Regional Police, Police Grand Commissioner Satake Bayu Setianto, said his party would conduct investigation to determine the cause of oxygen shortage.
"West Sumatera Regional Police will check to the locations where procurement is. Whether there is stockpiling or not, we will see the results from team deployed by West Sumatera Regional Police to those places," Head of Public Affairs of West Sumatera Regional Police said, Thursday (07/22/2021).
Head of Public Affairs of West Sumatera Regional Police said the team was dispatched to carry out inspections to several oxygen manufacturing locations and rogue distributors who were stockpiling oxygen.
"We'll try to check, we'll see the results," he concluded.
