Metro Jaya Regional Police Has Released Hundreds of Protesters Following Protests on Indonesian Parliament

inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. A total of 310 protesters have been secured by Metro Jaya Regional Police and ranks following public distaste against Indonesian legislative movements on Regional Head Elections.

The Head of Metro Jaya Regional Police Public Relations Division, Senior Superintendent Ade Ary Syam Indradi says that of the 310 protesters secured, hundreds of them have been released.

“We have released the secured protesters in West Jakarta, while in East Jakarta, we have released them after we examined them. Three protesters were secured by the Central Jakarta Sub-regional Metro Police and two have been released, while the other one is still being examined,” said Senior Superintendent Ade Ary Syam on Saturday (8/24/2024).

Previously, Metro Jaya Regional Police have named 19 suspects following the rally in front of Indonesian parliament. Initially, police had secured and examined 50 people following the protests.

“Of the 50 protesters secured, our investigators identified 19 of them as the suspect,” explains Metro Jaya Regional Police Public Relations Division Chief.

However, Ade says the 19 suspects were not put behind the bars, they were all released.
