Inp.polri.go.id - Bandung. Persib Bandung midfielder Thom Haye said his family received death threats following Persib’s 1–0 win over rivals Persija Jakarta in the BRI Super League on Sunday (11/1/2026) in Bandung, West Java
The threats were sent after the high-profile derby at Gelora Bandung Lautan Api Stadium drew strong emotional reactions from fans.
“I can accept many things as a professional, but I respectfully ask those sending death threats and disturbing messages to my family to stop. Football should never go this far,” Haye wrote on his official Instagram account, as cited by antaranews.com
The Dutch-born midfielder played the full match, which Persib won through an early goal by Beckham Putra. The victory secured Persib the top spot at the halfway point of the season.
Haye also called for greater respect in Indonesian football, stressing that passion should not turn into hostility. He urged players and supporters alike to help build a healthier football environment for the future of the sport.
