inp.polri.go.id - Banyuwangi. The Minister of Youth and Sports, Ario Bimo Nandito Ariotedjo, said that Banyuwangi will be the next venue for World Surf League (WSL) 2025.

“For Banyuwangi, we have added the location to the World Surf League set of events. We aim to integrate the event with the culture and tradition of Banyuwangi in it,” said Minister Ario on Monday (7/22/2024).

When attending the International Tour de Banyuwangi Ijen bicycle racing event, Minister Ario Bimo said the World Surf League will be held in seven beaches from Aceh to Papua.

He explains the decision of choosing Banyuwangi as part of the World Surf League set of events is because the outer east of Java island has the world renowned beach and wave, and is fit for the World Surf League.

The Plengkung Beach of Banyuwangi Beach has represented the regency in the World Surf League Championship Tour 2022.

“Moreover, the infrastructure in Banyuwangi is good and fit for us to manage in attracting the tourists. That is why we chose Banyuwangi to be part of the set of event,” explained Minister Ario Bimo.
