inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Law and Human Rights Ministry encourages the participation of new voters in the 2024 Regional Head Elections by accommodating the regional head election declaration for new voters which was held in conjunction with the launch of the 76th World Human Rights Day.
The Law and Human Rights Minister Supratman Andi Agtas said that new voters have a big responsibility in shaping the future of Indonesia. Every vote of a new voter is an important part of the nation's journey towards a better policy direction.
"New voters not only have the right to vote, but also have the responsibility to use that right wisely. You have to realize that every vote you cast is a statement of your hopes and aspirations for the future," said Minister Andi on Wednesday (9/25/2024).
The declaration of the regional elections for new voters invites the representatives of 26 high schools/equivalents coordinated by the community fostered by the Directorate General of Human Rights. They were present both in person and online.
In front of the school students, Minister Andi invited voters aged 17 to 19 years to actively participate in the 2024 Regional Head Election. He also appealed to new voters to exercise their voting rights wisely.
"We need a young generation who are not only smart voters, but also ambassadors of the harmony of diversity and democracy fighters who are full of integrity," said Minister Andi.
The Minister of Law and Human Rights also reminded that every citizen has the right to be elected and to vote in general elections based on equal rights, through free, honest and fair voting.
