Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Minister of Defense Liutenant General (Ret.) Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin has proposed the establishment of a National Defense Council to enhance national security coordination.
The proposal, aimed at bringing diverse perspectives to defense strategy, was presented during a briefing to senior Ministry of Defense officials at the Indonesian Defense University in Bogor, West Java, on Wednesday (30/10/2024).
“The plan is to establish a National Defense Council, allowing for a broader, heterogeneous approach to defense,” said Brigadier General Edwin Adrian Sumantha, thespokesperson for the Ministry of Defense, as quoted by antaranews.com.
Minister Sjafrie envisions the council as a centralized body that will synchronize efforts between the Indonesian Military (TNI), ministries, local administrations, universities, media, and civil society, addressing both military and non-military defense needs.
