inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Minister of Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers Abdul Kadir Karding coordinated with the Ministry of Transportation regarding migrant worker data. This step was taken so that no more illegal workers could leave without the applicable procedures.
"The first is about data. We want to ensure that all Indonesian migrant workers leaving Indonesia are recorded by the Ministry," Abdul said.
Next is for the Ministry of Transportation to be able to prepare and handle the shipping sector as the ministry has a shipping school.
Lastly, he asked the Ministry of Transportation to monitor the data of migrant workers leaving or entering through ports or airports. He also asked that his ministry be included in the monitoring system.
"People coming in and out, especially at the port, until today have not properly been able to control it very well by us. Thus, we will combine our systems or combine places, including at international ports and international airports," Abdul explained.
Meanwhile, the Minister of Transportation, Dudy Purwagandhi, welcomed the request positively. Dudy emphasized that he would synergize to provide maximum protection for Indonesian migrant workers.
"The point is how we provide maximum protection to migrant workers. What we can do in our capacity as the Ministry of Transportation, we support," he said.
