Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Ministry of Foreign confirmed that no Indonesian citizens have been affected by the ongoing violent protests following Tanzania’s general election.
“As of now, there have been no reports of Indonesian casualties,” the ministry said in a statement posted Saturday (1/11/2025) on social media platform X, adding that the Indonesian Embassy in Dar es Salaam continues to monitor the situation and the safety of 112 Indonesians living across Tanzania and Zanzibar.
The ministry urged Indonesians in Tanzania to remain alert, avoid large gatherings, and comply with local authorities, providing a hotline for emergencies, as reported by antaranews.com.
The protests erupted ahead of the 29 October 2025 elections after opposition candidates were disqualified, sparking public outrage. Local media reported about 700 people killed in three days of unrest.
Tanzania’s electoral commission declared incumbent President Samia Suluhu Hassan the winner with 97.66% of votes, amid calls from the UN and African Union for transparency and restraint.
