Inp.polri.go.id - Medan. The North Sumatra Regional Police have uncovered an inter-provincial drug trafficking syndicate, seizing 100 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine in three separate operations.

““The meth was disguised in coffee packaging and transported through various provinces, making it one of the largest seizures in recent months,” said Senior Superintendent Jean Calvijn Simanjuntak, the Director of Narcotics Investigation at the North Sumatra Police, on Saturday (17/5/2025).

Police arrested four suspects — two women, identified as CT and K, and two men, identified as Jul and SUD, — each with distinct roles in the operation. Suspect CT was initially arrested at a Medan hotel, leading to the discovery of 33 kg of meth hidden in a car at a shopping mall. She allegedly acted under the direction of a fugitive identified only as “B.”

Further investigations led police to a house in Medan used as a repackaging site, where suspect Jul was arrested with 39 kg of meth concealed in coffee packaging. In a separate operation in April, Suspects SUD and K, a married couple, were arrested in Banten with 28 kg of meth, in coordination with South Sumatra Police.

Authorities estimate the confiscated drugs, valued at around Rp 100 billion (around USD 6.3 million).
