“We’re enhancing security in Medan by conducting intensive night patrols,” said North Sumatra Police Head of Public Relations, Senior Superintendent Hadi Wahyudi, on Sunday (1/9/2024).

The North Sumatra Police has deployed the Shabara team responsible for public order and security with full equipment, patrolling from 10 pm to 5 am. The patrols cover areas under Medan Baru Police Office, Medan Kota Police Office, Medan Helvetia Police Office, West Medan Police Office, and others, with 16 trail motorbikes and five Perintis vehicles.

“These efforts back up Polrestabes Medan, focusing on key areas,” he added, as quoted by antaranews.com.

The initiative aims to maintain security and order during the PON, which see numerous events in Medan and surrounding areas. Besides maintaining security, the patrols also encourage local residents and teenagers to return home, preventing potential disturbances and ensuring public order.

The INP has also sent modern technology, including communication tools, face recognition, plate recognition, and CCTV integration, to support PON 2024 security.
