Inp.polri.go.id - Medan. The North Sumatra Regional Police are currently investigating a criminal network involved in the illegal transport of subsidized diesel fuel using modified trucks.
The Directorate of Special Crimes is tracking the larger organization behind the operation following the arrest of two drivers transporting illegal fuel intended for distribution earlier this week.
"Investigators are continuing to develop the case to capture other perpetrators," said Senior Superintendent Ferry Walintukan, the Head of Public Relations for the North Sumatra Police, on Saturday (9/5/2026), as quoted by antaranews.com..
The first truck, modified to carry four tons of subsidized diesel, was driven by a suspect identified as H. A second truck, carrying 1.4 tons, was operated by suspect E and a conductor, RA. These operations were detected at two gas stations (SPBU) in Tebing Tinggi on Tuesday morning.
To evade detection, the syndicate allegedly used 29 barcodes and seven forged license plates. The fuel was reportedly destined for a warehouse in Serdang Bedagai. The two trucks and the suspects are currently held at the North Sumatra Police Headquarters for further examination.
