inp.polri.go.id - Medan. The North Sumatra Regional Police's Drugs Criminal Investigation Directorate has successfully dismantled an international drug trafficking network originating from Malaysia.

During the operation, police seized 20 kilograms of methamphetamine suspected of being destined for distribution in North Sumatra.

The Director of the North Sumatra Regional Police's Drugs Criminal Investigation Unit, Senior Superintendent Jean Calvijn Simanjuntak, explained that the case was uncovered based on public information regarding a planned drug transaction on Perintis Sijambi street, Datuk Bandar District, Tanjung Balai City on Friday (6/27/2025).

"The team conducted an investigation at the location and successfully secured a Mitsubishi Xpander carrying two suspects, AL (21) and AG (23)," said Calvijn in his statement on Tuesday (7/15/2025).

However, during the arrest, police found no evidence of drugs in the car. After interrogation, the two confessed to handing the methamphetamine to another suspect, identified as IB (34).

Following up on this confession, the team then arrested IB in Aek Teluk Kiri, Teluk Dalam District, Asahan Regency. IB further stated that the methamphetamine was being stored by suspect SN (41) in Tanjung Balai.

"The team returned to Tanjung Balai and arrested SN in Gang Keluarga, Sirantau Village, Datuk Bandar District. From SN, we managed to confiscate 20 kilograms of methamphetamine packaged in packages labeled 'Angel 246 Team One,'" explained Senior Commissioner Calvijn.

SN admitted that he obtained the methamphetamine from an individual with the initials H, who is now on the Wanted Persons List. H is known to reside in Malaysia and is suspected of controlling the network.

"This network is controlled by H, who operates from Malaysia. The evidence was planned to be sent to Medan," he added.

Police are continuing to develop this case to thoroughly dismantle this transnational drug network.
